What This Covers

AI Agents & Workflow Automation

Agents that carry out multi-step work across your systems with the right level of human oversight — scoped around a specific process rather than sold as general autonomy.

  • Tool use and system integration
  • Multi-step task orchestration
  • Human-in-the-loop approval gates
  • Action logging and traceability
  • Failure handling and rollback
  • Scoped autonomy, not open-ended
“AptenTech brought clarity to the entire development process. The team understood what we wanted, communicated consistently, and delivered a product that was both polished and practical to use.”

How We Deliver

Stage 01 of 06

Use Case Selection & Business Case

Which problems are worth solving with AI, scored on value and feasibility together. We name the ones that are not worth it, because starting with the wrong use case is the most common failure in this category.

Why Teams Choose Us

01

We Will Tell You When AI Is the Wrong Answer

Plenty of problems are better solved with a rule, a report or a process change. We assess that in consulting and say so — it costs us a project occasionally and saves you far more.

02

Data Readiness Assessed Before Anything Is Promised

Data quality, coverage and consent are the most common reason AI projects stall. We audit them first rather than discovering the problem after the architecture is agreed.

03

Evaluated Against a Baseline, Not a Demo

Every model is measured on a golden dataset against a non-AI baseline. A demo that impresses in a meeting tells you nothing about behaviour on the long tail of real inputs.

04

Cost Per Inference Modelled Up Front

AI economics can quietly invert at scale. We model cost per user, per document or per transaction during architecture, so the unit economics are known before launch.

05

Governance Built in, Not Bolted On

Bias testing, explainability, audit logging and human oversight are part of the build. Enterprise procurement and the EU AI Act both now ask for evidence, not intentions.

06

You Own Everything

Code, models, prompts, evaluation sets, infrastructure and documentation are yours from day one, with a handover that leaves your team self-sufficient.

Questions We Are Asked

It varies enormously with what you are building. Integrating an existing model API into a product sits at the lower end; a custom-trained model with a data pipeline, evaluation harness and governance documentation sits considerably higher. The bigger surprise is usually running cost rather than build cost, so we model cost per inference at expected volume during architecture.

A prototype with evaluation typically runs six to ten weeks. A production system with integration, guardrails and monitoring usually runs four to eight months. We deliberately front-load a prototype and evaluation phase so you get a real accuracy number before committing to the full build.

That is the first question we answer, and sometimes the answer is no. Data audit covers volume, quality, coverage of edge cases, labelling and whether consent covers the intended use. If the data is not there, we will say so rather than building something that will underperform quietly.

API models cover most use cases and are usually where to start. Fine-tuning helps when you need a consistent format or domain tone that prompting cannot reach. Training from scratch is rarely justified outside specialised domains with proprietary data. We recommend based on your case, and the cheapest option that works is usually the right one.

Retrieval grounding so answers come from approved sources, citations so users can verify, confidence thresholds that trigger a refusal or escalation instead of a guess, and an evaluation set run on every change. Hallucination cannot be eliminated, and any vendor claiming otherwise is overselling.

Yes. Options include enterprise API tiers with no-training guarantees, deployment inside your own cloud tenancy, or open-weight models self-hosted entirely within your infrastructure. Which is right depends on your data residency requirements and cost at volume.
